The Pitch 

A morning runner strikes up an unlikely friendship with the old man she sees on her journey everyday, but she is unaware of his motive.

The Story

Run is about Emily, a young aspiring runner who trains each morning around a field near her house. As winter draws in the mornings get darker and darker; however, that does not stop Emily from running each day. After seeing the same older man on her journey each day, she assumes he is lonely and strikes up a conversation, after the old man introduces himself as John their chats become a daily occurrence.  After a change in the air, John seems to become overbearing and intrusive which pushes Emily to change her route; however, a few days later she goes missing. After waking up with John standing over her, all she wants to do is Run.

 FEEDBACK 

 Today (21/10/2019) I got feedback from Steve and Simon, i will list below the development points I was given so I can re evaluate my story and ensure it is the best it can be.

-The character Emily needs a reason to run, what is it that she is running away from? needs to be more of a development in her character with more of a background.

-The character John also needs more of a background, the typical 'dirty man' in a park watching women run is not interesting.

-Steve recommended that Emily is running away from a family issue.

DEVELOPMENT

After getting the feedback from Steve and Simon I have developed my story which is below.

The Story 
Run is about Emily who runs each day to get away from her family life, after Emilys dad passed away she was left to live with just her Mum who she despises. As she goes on a run this particular day after having a row with her Mum, she is stopped by an old man who introduces himself as John, John can see Emily is upset and asks if she's is ok. After discussing the situation with John who tried to reassure and help her, John gives Emily the confidence to go home and confront her mum. After the situation turns worst, her Mum ends up hurting Emily and ending their relationship.

BBC Three Research  Creating a documentary for the commission on BBC Three means researching their remits and the style. The reason to why the programme would be on BBC Three and no other channels. This is really important that me and my group understand what makes a BBC Three programme brilliant, commissioned and appealing to their audiences. BBC Three moved from television in 2005 to an online platform based on Iplayer. BBC Three pride themselves on making content directed to their " audience is 16-34 year olds" (BBC, 2013) . Although BBC is now an online platform and has been for some while, I truly believe this fits in well with other streaming platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix etc which is are all also online streaming platforms. Escaping Gangs: Death, Jail or Redemption What is it about?  The BBC Three documentary follows the lives of people who commit crime and are involved within Gangs, the documentary surrounds SPAC Nation, which is a charity set up that holds sunday church services for members of gangs within London. The charity also invests money into members who want to start businesses and leave crime behind them.
