'THE JOURNEY'


Who are our characters?

 Susie Wells 

 

Susie is in her mid 20's who has just made it as a 'Weather lady' and is kicking of her career in television. Susie travels daily from Southend via Train accompanied by her boyfriend, a studio producer.

Jennifer Baker 

Jennifer is in her early 20's and is a Secretary who commutes to London from Upminster. Jennifer seeks reassurance through others in her friendships and her many partners.

Setting

Winters morning, 4:30am, Quiet. 


The Main Story 

Two young women, Jennifer and Susie, share the same train journey daily. During the quiet commute in the early hours of the morning, all that links them is a soft smile to each other, until a poster starts conversation as Jennifer recognises the new weather girl: Susie. Moments later, they discover something else links them when Chad, Susie's boyfriend, and one of Jennifer's many ex-lovers, returns from the toilet. Jennifer recognises Chad’s controlling nature and defends Susie the way she wishes she had. Who knew a soft smile between two strangers could mean so much?

The Pitch 

During a quiet commute two strangers become unlikely friends and find a connection through trauma. A shared confrontation is the catalyst.

BBC Three Research  Creating a documentary for the commission on BBC Three means researching their remits and the style. The reason to why the programme would be on BBC Three and no other channels. This is really important that me and my group understand what makes a BBC Three programme brilliant, commissioned and appealing to their audiences. Pre-Production  Risk Assessment completed by Matt Park. The Risk Assessment completed by Matt Park, allows us to film safely which is so important to ensure everyone taking part in production both cast and crew are kept safe. As production can contain light, eletrical equipment and busy work places, there are many hazards that needs to be highlighted to ensure nothing is damaged and no one is hurt. You can see the assessment below.    If this step wasn't completed, it means that there would not be insurance covering me if anyone was hurt or the equipment became damaged, that's why it is so important to have a risk assessment to be able to analyze the risks during production and to minimise any chance that a injury or situation could occur. Structure and  Presentation Methods/Running Order The structure and presentation methods of The One Show is much similar to both This Morning and also our commissioned programme Trending. As all these programmes are classed as Magazine shows, they each cover current affairs and a variety of topics that bring people up to date with the current climate, while also discussing a range of topics that can be relevant to the masses.  The running order of the One Shows, is similar each day as it follows the following.  -Opening Titles  -Introduction  -Coming Up  This is when the running order normally contains -Interviews  -VT's  -Social Media Catch Up (Tweets and messages that have come in during the show, this is normally at the end) There are regularly multiple of each VT's and Interview which cover the topics of the day and follow whatever is relevant in the news that day.
