H - AS LIVE - PROJECT EVALUATION

Researcher and Pre-Production  I really enjoyed this part of the unit as it allowed me to look into a role that I hadn't before. As I had never been a researcher before I was excited to see what is entailed. This was also a brilliant way to allow me to really work on my organizational and people skills.  What Went well? I felt it went really well for me being able to do paperwork, conducting the advertisement and liaising with potential cast members as this allowed me to work on my professionalism while speaking to candidates. Through research I had learned how important it was to remain professional but carry your personality in a way that put the candidate at ease and not on edge. By doing this, I felt I got the best out of the candidates and we had some really successful interviews, so this was definitely a positive.  Overall, I feel taking charge of the auditions and also working on the game show questions allowed me to give the producers the research they needed to t...

G - AS LIVE - TEST SHOOT

Image
When it came to the test shoots, I knew there was certain points that I needed to focus on. After we had completed the workshops and now found ourselves within the studio with the set, this was the time I really needed to focus on certain aspects to ensure I could fulfill my job role as camera operator which would be done through the test shoots.  My main aspects of the test shoot was to focus on the specific aspects below to ensure that when it came to the live production, I had sorted any mistakes that may of occurred and learnt from them.  -Focus on following direction, under pressure.  (I need to be able to focus on following direction and test using the talk back system, although we will be doing our test shoots through rehearsals, as this is a live piece there is a chance something could change, this is why I need to be on the ball and get used to the talk back and following direction from the Director) -Staggering through my camera positions.   (This is import...

F - AS LIVE - CONTENT/PRODUCTION ROLE RESEARCH

Image
Developing Our Pitch Within this blog post I will be discussing our pitch and how we came to develop it through research.  Our Initial Idea  When we had been given the brief for the Unit, Myself and Sydney knew we wanted to work together straight away, we have always been told to focus on something we're passionate about and with both mine and Sydneys taste in Television being the same, we knew we wanted to work together.  We first focused on what makes an 'As Live' television show, I wanted to be sure I had a clear understanding of what an As Live production was.  When looking into the definition of 'As Live' I came across a definition from The Free Dictionary website. It stated:  '(Broadcasting)   (of   a   performance   for   a   television   programme)   performed   as   though   live   but   broadcast   after   a   short   delay   to   allow   for   the ...

E - AS LIVE - PRODUCTION PAPERWORK

Image
Production Paperwork As my job roles are both Researcher and Studio Camera Operator, I will be speaking through the pre-production documents created by the Producers and other members of the production who had job roles that meant the production documents were produced by them. I will however though be speaking about the importance of the documents and why they needed to be completed. The documents will all be relevant to my job roles and the production documents that I would of needed to see to be able to do my job roles. First I will be showing the paperwork that was completed by the VT team, to ensure that when recording the VT's the sight was secure and Covid safe.  Covid Risk Assesments for the VT's VT Risk Assessments   VT Timings and Production Schedule  VT 1 Shot List  VT 2 Script Research Presenting Auditions  Presenting AD Presenting Responses  Conclusion In conclusion, although I did not have any input in regards to the pre production stage...

D - AS LIVE - WORKSHOPS/OUTPUT

Image
Introduction  Within this blog post I will be looking into any areas that may need research to identify any problems.  Due to Covid, we only had a few occasions in which we were able to test shots all together as a group while also working on blocking and staggering through. I will however also be reflecting on the rehearsals within this blog post too.  Camera Rehearsals   Tuesday 23rd March Our first workshop was when we also learnt about vision mixing, I felt this was really exciting as although I was working as a camera operator, it was really interesting to also look into how vision mixing works and to have a go myself, as this is something I hadn't explored before but it took my interest.  When setting up the cameras for our test shoot within the base room, I wanted to ensure I took this time to know where the camera settings were. As we hadn't used the cameras in a long time, I wanted to ensure that I was capable of finding the right settings and bein...

C - AS LIVE - ANALYSIS OF THE STRUCTURE, BRANDING, GRAPHICS AND PRESENTATION METHODS OF STUDIO PRODUCTION RELEVANT TO COMISSIONED PROJECT.

Structure and  Presentation Methods/Running Order The structure and presentation methods of The One Show is much similar to both This Morning and also our commissioned programme Trending. As all these programmes are classed as Magazine shows, they each cover current affairs and a variety of topics that bring people up to date with the current climate, while also discussing a range of topics that can be relevant to the masses.  The running order of the One Shows, is similar each day as it follows the following.  -Opening Titles  -Introduction  -Coming Up  This is when the running order normally contains -Interviews  -VT's  -Social Media Catch Up (Tweets and messages that have come in during the show, this is normally at the end) There are regularly multiple of each VT's and Interview which cover the topics of the day and follow whatever is relevant in the news that day. This could also be stories that cover events or specific days like 'St Patricks...
